A not-for-profit teaching hospital serving 380,000 people across the Northfield valley.
Our mission
To give every person in our community safe, kind and expert care, and to train the clinicians who will care for them tomorrow.
Northfield Regional employs 3,400 staff, including 520 doctors and 1,450 nurses and midwives. As a teaching hospital we train 140 resident doctors a year, and our research unit runs more than 60 clinical trials that patients can join.
We are a not-for-profit hospital. Every dollar of surplus goes back into equipment, buildings and staff.

Seventy-four years in the valley

| 1952 | Northfield Cottage Hospital opens with 60 beds and one operating theatre. |
| 1978 | Becomes a teaching hospital, partnered with the state medical school. |
| 1994 | Building D opens with the region's first Level III neonatal unit. |
| 2011 | Emergency department rebuilt and designated a Level II trauma centre. |
| 2019 | Cancer Centre (Building E) opens with on-site radiotherapy. |
| 2026 | Robotic surgery suite opens; Building G outpatient centre under construction. |
